Brad Pitt walking with a cane
On Saturday, Brad Pitt appeared on the red carpet next to Angelina Jolie walking with the help of a cane. During the 22nd Annual Palm Springs Film Festival, the actor revealed he had injured his knee after saving one of his daughters.
"I was carrying my daughter [Vivienne] down the hill and I slipped," Pitt said. "It was either her or me."
Luckily, doctors announced him that he would not need surgery. However, the stick will have to remain in place for a while.
Angelina Jolie commented regarding the cane: "I like the cane." She also added that the cane does not interfere with the actor’s pace of things. "He's not that kind of guy. He does everything still." she said.
The famous actress also commented further and said that Vivienne is "okay. She was absolutely fine."
"When [Maddox] was younger, I took a fall and cracked my elbow because I wanted to make sure he didn't have the fall," Jolie said. "Every parent has injured themselves. Every parent will stand in the line of fire for their kids so it's a normal thing."
The Palm Springs gala dinner was held in order to honour several people from the film industry. Brad Pitt and his friend George Clooney each received an award.
"I'm just glad George is going to be around because there's no one more fun," said Pitt after he received a Desert Palm Achievement award for the roles he had in his recent movies "Moneyball" and "The Tree of Life".
