New employment for Darian Grubb

Joe Gibbs Racing announced it has signed a contract with crew chief Darian Grubb in order to have the man work with Denny Hamlin in 2012. Grubb is known to have won the 2011 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series title with Tony Stewart. Before this victory he had worked with Hendrick Motorsports for six years. He is going to replace Mike Ford who had been working with Hamlin since 2006. In the past year Ford and Hamlin won eight titles.

"I'm thrilled to join Joe Gibbs Racing," said Grubb. "The chance to work with Denny is something I'm excited about. When you sit down with Joe and JD Gibbs you can't help but be excited about this opportunity and the team aspects of JGR. There is no question about the level of support you get here and I'm looking forward to working with everyone across the entire organisation."

Although Grubb does not have the similar experience as crew chief as Ford, he won many races with each driver he had worked alongside with. He started in 2006 when he filled in for Chad Knaus, when Jimmie Johnson won his first championship.

"Darian is a great addition to our organisation and person to lead our #11 FedEx team," said team owner Joe Gibbs. "Obviously he has proven the ability to guide a team to a championship and we are excited to have him working with Denny toward achieving that goal here at Joe Gibbs Racing."

The question that remains is where Ford will go now.
