Modern Warfare 3 hits stores
Every year, during this period of the year, another Call of Duty game hits the shelves. Today, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has become available for players who are eager to play the new game on all major consoles and PC. The game that was developed by Infinity Ward and published by Activision puts the gamer in the position of a soldier that goes through his battles in first-person. The game can be purchased for $60.
Long before its launch, analysts speculated that the game would be an instant hit. Wedbush analyst Michael Pachter announced he believed the game would generate over $1.1 billion during the first six weeks it remains on shelves. In addition it is expected to beat the record made by Call of Duty: Black Ops. This milestone would be amazing for Activision who is battling against Battlefield 3. The game was called the Call of Duty killer and it was the EA executives that have been the most outspoken on the matter.
"If I had to pick the story I'd like to play out next year, we [would] ship a [game with] a 90 [score on Metacritic] and [Activision] ship[s] an 85," EA CEO John Riccitiello admitted for Kotaku in an interview he gave last year, adding that "the way you unseat a market leader is you make a better game a couple of times in a row."
The man added that "all I want to do, if you will, is to have [Call of Duty] rot from the core." Unfortunately the man did not get one of his wishes: the Xbox 360 version of Battlefield 3 has a score of 84 on Metacritic. Modern Warfare 3 scored a 90 on Metacritic.
