Battlefield 3 hits stores
On the 25th of October Battlefield 3 was released in stores. The game which is the newest wartime first-person shooter title released by DICE and Electronic Arts is available on PC, PS3, and Xbox 360. The game was launched before the next important game of this genre, Infinity Ward's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, which is due to hit stores on November 8th.
In this game, users have to play U.S. Marines that fight against the opposing forces, The People's Liberation and Resistance, in New York, Paris, and Tehran. The much anticipated game was developed on DICE's Frostbite 2 engine which allowed the developer to build massive environments, create engaging audio and develop amazing animation, also using the ANT technology in the process. The virtual soldiers are able to mount weapons in almost every type of terrain.
The shooter features several types of controllable vehicles such as fighter jets, helicopters, tanks, transport vehicles and APCs. Its multiplayer mode is able to support 24 combatants. The intense multiplayer action is able to more than double the number of players, reaching 64 players, but only in the PC version. In order to play online users have to activate their Online Pass which can be found in the new versions of the game. If buyers decided to buy used copies of Battlefield 3, they’ll have to purchase a separate Pass.
The version of Battlefield priced at $59.99 is available for both PC and console. As far as minimum requirements go, users will need at least: 32-bit Windows Vista (Service Pack 1), a 2-GHz dual core CPU and 2GB of RAM. Their computer will also need a DVD-ROM drive.
