Bioware still pursues Jade Empire
Bioware is widely known for three important franchises: Knights of the Old Republic, Mass Effect and Dragon Age. At the moment both Dragon Age and Mass Effect are enjoying wide success and show no signs of slowing down, both having sequels planned in the nearby future. Other Bioware games such as Baldur’s Gate and Neverwinter Nights also enjoyed their sequels. Why should Jade Empire be any different? During this year’s Eurogamer Expo, BioWare CEO Ray Muzyka gave fans something to look forward to:
“We’ve been talking a lot about [Jade Empire] actually on and off over the years. It’s an IP, it’s a setting that we’re really passionate about, and we still are. Both Greg [Zeschuck] and I were big believers in the IP. We’re just looking for the right way to deploy it. We have a lot of different projects now on a lot of different platforms, and you might see some of that [Jade Empire] in the future. You never know. We don’t have anything to announce on it right now, but it is a franchise that’s near and dear to us,” he said.
Since 2005 when Jade Empire appeared on Xbox, fans have been requesting a sequel year after year. However, the company has been too busy dealing with the sequels for Mass Effect and Dragon Age to take notice of this fact. Now fans have been left wondering whether their favorite game will indeed get a sequel or even get turned in a trilogy. Only time will tell…
